Oncologist Shripad D. Banavali is the head of the Medical Oncology Department at the Tata Memorial Clinic. In 1986 he received his doctorate in the field of internal medicine and passed 3 years of internship at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai.
From 1987 to 1990, he wrote a research project on chronic myeloid leukemia, for which he received a scholarship to work with Dr. Harvey Presler in Cincinnati, USA.
Dr. Banawali spent almost 3 years there, conducting research in the field of leukemia and hematogenous progenitor cells.
In 1992, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, USA to work at the famous Children’s Research Hospital of St. Jude. After 8 years of medical practice in the US, he returned to the Tata Memorial Hospital. Dr. Shripad Banavali is the author of over 200 scientific publications.
