The hospital offers treatment at the highest level and pays special attention to the safety and well-being of patients. One of the main specialities of the hospital is the treatment of oncological diseases. A certified prostate centre has been functioning there since 2009.

The structure of the Munich-Planegg Urology Centre is divided into specialized divisions, among which are the following:

Since 2009, Munich-Planegg Urology Hospital has been operating a certified prostate centre for the diagnosis and treatment of all benign and malignant prostate diseases. Particular attention is paid here to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate adenoma and prostate cancer.

The centre has been repeatedly voted the best unit for prostate cancer treatment in Bavaria.

For diagnostics, advanced laboratory tests are used, including PSA level determination and separate molecular genetic marker PCA 3.

Among the methods used by doctors at the Munich-Planegg Urology Centre are: urology, urofluometry, cystoscopy, TRUS (transrectal sonography), ultrasound elastography of prostate, multi-parameter MRI of the prostate (mpMRI), traditional biopsy and FUSION biopsy of the prostate, CT (computer tomography), PET-CT, skeletal bone scintigraphy.
The scope of research is determined by a team of specialists from the centre strictly individually for each patient, based on indications and contraindications.
The prostate centre uses medication, surgical and other (non-surgical) methods of treating prostate neoplasms. In the case of localized prostate cancer, the preservation of erectile function and a complete act of urination is achieved by especially gentle surgical procedures.

Much attention is paid to operations with minimal tissue damage, namely robotic interventions using the da Vinci XI HD robotic surgery system. The use of a robotic surgeon makes it possible to minimize tissue trauma, blood loss, and as a result - the severity of the pain and the duration of the recovery period. Another advantage is the absence of typical complications: weak control of urination (incontinence) and erectile dysfunction.

Doctors at the Munich-Planegg Clinic in Germany also offer a number of innovative treatment alternatives. This applies above all to the treatment of metastatic cancers where previous treatment methods are not sufficiently effective or pose a serious risk to the patient.

More than 470 prostate surgeries are performed annually in operating hospitals, and the total percentage of complications in the postoperative period does not exceed 1%.

Brachytherapy is one of the effective and safe methods to treat prostate cancer. Doctors Ramin Werner Djamali-Leonhard and Friedemann Meisse conduct the procedure as chief specialists at the Brachytherapy Department of the Urology Clinic Munich-Planegg. Two types of therapy are used in the treatment of patients: LDR (low-dose) and HDR (high-dose). For low-dose prostate brachytherapy (LDR), “grains”, containing a source of alpha iodine-125 are used. In high-dose brachytherapy (HDR) the source of radiation is iridium-192

In the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia (prostate adenoma) the hospital uses medication therapy and transurethral resection - methods that help reduce the volume of the gland. As a result, the patient feels less discomfort with the disease. In addition to the methods described, urologists at the Munich-Planegg Clinic practice prostate artery embolization. This innovative procedure is performed endovascularly under local anaesthesia and is completely safe. The aim of embolization is to limit the blood supply to the prostate, which subsequently leads to a reduction in its size and, as a result, an improvement in urination and the patient's general condition. Prostate arterial embolization is an alternative when medications no longer work and surgery is not possible for certain reasons.

The prostate centre also provides a full range of therapeutic and diagnostic measures for patients with acute and chronic prostatitis.

UROLOGY CENTER MUNICH-PLANEGG UROLOGY HOSPITAL

One of the main specialities of the hospital is the treatment of oncology, namely, malignant tumours of the urogenital system

Urology Clinic Munich-Planegg diagnoses and treats bladder cancer, kidney cancer, uterine tumours, penis cancer, testicular cancer.

In order to make an accurate diagnosis and determine the stage of development of the cancer process, the patient undergoes a number of routine and specialized studies. As a rule, this list includes laboratory tests (blood tests, cancer markers, genetic markers of the tumour process) as well as instrumental methods of research (MRI, CT, PET-CT, cystoscopy, etc.). Much attention is paid to the process of taking a biopsy and the study of the obtained material. Modern equipment and well-coordinated work of medical personnel allow the patient to pass a complete diagnosis in just 3-4 days

The hospital's Cancer Center works closely with the Department of Reconstructive Urogenital Surgery. Together, specialists perform complex reconstructive surgeries to restore the functionality of organs after radical operations. Most often, reconstructive surgeries are performed after bladder cancer, uterine cancer, and genital cancer.

In the treatment process, the clinic's specialists apply the latest developments of modern medicine. Under the guidance of Professor M. Kriegmair developed the process of improving endoscopic detection, especially in the early stages of aggressive bladder tumour (carcinoma in situ), the so-called «photodynamic diagnostics» (PDD). After the introduction of a special dye into the bladder, cancer cells become bright red when the affected area is illuminated by special blue rays. Since the introduction of this method, bladder tumours are detected earlier and therefore treated faster. Cancer interventions are carried out in modern and fully equipped operating theatres.

The hospital has its own training centre, which allows the regular perfection of therapeutic tactics. At the Oncology department of the Urology Center Munich-Planegg, the following treatment methods are used:
