He received his medical education at the Ludwig-Maximilian Faculty of Medicine. He also received training in Würzburg and Erlangen.
In 2001 he received the honorary title of Professor at the University of Nanning (China).
In 2002, he received the title of professor at the University of Orad in Romania.
Until 2002, he was Senior Doctor of Urology at the Ludwig-Maximilian University Hospital. Since 2002, he has been senior urologist and co-founder of the Clinic Munich-Planegg. He is active in teaching at the Ludwig-Maximilian University.
