In 2007, he was invited by Prof. Dr Fumio Konishi to work at Suitama Medical University Medical Center in Japan as a Member of the Clinical Research Society.
In 2008, he first joined Dr Ricardo Cohen and Dr Lewis Berti at the São Camilio Hospital in São Paolo, Brazil. Then he worked with Dr Muffazal Lakdawala and Dr Suren Ugale in India.
In 2010 he had the opportunity to improve his practical training in BPD (Biliopancreatic Diversion), working at first with the President of IFSO in Geneva (Italy) and the Chief Editor of “Obesity Surgery” Journal Prof. Dr Nicola Scorpinaro. In the same year, he left his position at Gaziosmanpasa University and started to work at Yeni Yüzyıl Üniversitesi (New Century) University as a Deputy Assistant Professor and Doctor.
In 2010, Alper Çelik initially participated in the practical work of the First World Workshop related to ileal interposition surgery in Hyderabad (India) and had the opportunity to work with Dr Surendra Ugale and Dr Aurea de Paula in the course of this surgery.
In 2011, he participated in the IFSO-APC (International Federation For Surgical Treatment of Obesity and Related Disorders-Asia Pacific Chapter) forum in Japan as a member of the Presidium, as well as a member of the voting group at the conference to coordinate views.
After becoming an associate professor in June 2011, Alper Çelik established the Division of Metabolic Surgery at the Universal German Hospital in Taksim district of Istanbul in September 2011. In February 2012, Alper Çelik first attended The Asia-Pacific Workshop on Metabolic Surgery for Type 2 Diabetes which was held in Singapore.
In 2012 he created the Academy of Metabolic Surgery, in 2013 the Association of Metabolic Surgery, in 2014 the Clinic of Metabolic Surgery and the Metabolic Surgery Foundation of Turkey. In 2015, he created a national obesity database. In 2016, he was honoured with the title of professor doctor.
