The doctor graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada. In 1997 he worked as a researcher at the National Heart and Lung Institute of the Royal Brompton (London) under the supervision of Professor Robert Anderson.
After his return from London, he was the Head of the Arrhythmia Unit in the Cardiology Department of the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora del Pino Hospital in Las Palmas until 2000.
