Clinic Review
The Quironsalud Olympia Clinic is a unique hub of modern medicine aimed at preserving health, improving the quality and length of life, and preventing disease. Its main fields of expertise are sports medicine, check-ups, and rehabilitation
For each patient, doctors create an individual care plan, taking into account all areas of their life - diet, physical activity, emotional background, treatment/control of background diseases, etc. Quironsalud Olympia's medical approach does not limit itself to treating the disease, but to treating the body as a whole and improving its condition.
All this is achieved through the use of modern medical technologies and innovations, which Quironsalud Olympia doctors are among the first in the country to use. For example, Multitom robotic X-ray scanning technology and the latest generation MRI Tesla 3 tomograph are used for diagnostics.
The principles of work of the Quironsalud Olympia Clinic are:
Sustainable Health,
Innovation,
Knowledge,
Perseverance,
Excellence.
Quironsalud Olimpia is a modern 12,000 m2 centre located in Madrid, offering all the comforts of advanced medicine to patients from all corners of the world. There are 4 operating theatres, 10 rooms for post-operative rehabilitation and 12 individual highly comfortable rooms. The use of minimally invasive surgery and intensive rehabilitation allows patients to get back on their feet as soon as possible.
The hospital has an in-house laboratory, which allows for the rapid and high-quality performance of complex tests that are often unavailable in conventional hospitals. For example, Quironsalud Olympia offers genetic tests, "biological age" measurement, microbiota analysis profiles, food intolerance tests, and the most comprehensive tests for accurate research in the field of nutrition, sports, healthy lifestyle, prevention and longevity.
A hyperbaric chamber and an Icelab cryo-chamber (the first in Spain) are also present in Quironsalud Olympia. Patients have access to swimming pools, saunas and a Turkish bath for better recuperation.
STRUCTURE OF QUIRONSALUD OLYMPIA CLINIC
Quironsalud Olympia is divided into three separate centres aimed at dealing with different patient needs:
Sports Medicine
Sports Medicine Centre provides a full range of services for professional athletes - body examination, training monitoring, preparation for competitions, treatment of sports injuries and rehabilitation - as well as professional care for ordinary patients who want to maintain an active lifestyle.
A team of specialists from various fields is involved in the care of the patient - traumatology, sports medicine, physiotherapy, CadfyF, biomechanics, etc.
Lifestyle centre
Quironsalud Olympia's Lifestyle Centre is aimed at patients who are interested in maintaining good health for many years. People come here with chronic diseases, which are treated not by managing symptoms, but by correcting the root causes of their development; as well as preventing diseases. To achieve these goals, comprehensive diagnostics, as well as functional, personalised and precision medicine approaches are used.
The centre has specialised departments dedicated to cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and cancer prevention, as well as the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases.
Medical and Surgical Centre
When any health problems are detected, patients are referred to a medical centre where specialists with many years of experience will help to choose the most effective method of treatment, be it conservative or surgical. In the latter case, preference is always given to minimally invasive and laparoscopic techniques. Thanks to this, patients can often be discharged from the hospital on the day of the intervention.
HOW ARE PATIENTS TREATED AT QUIRONSALUD OLYMPIA?
1.MediGlobus coordinating doctors will process your application and help you with all organisational issues - collecting documents, getting a quick response from the hospital, arranging your flight, etc. You will be met at the airport by a coordinator who will help you get to the clinic. If necessary, you will be accompanied by a personal interpreter during your stay; however, a basic knowledge of English is usually sufficient to reach an understanding with the doctors and medical staff.
2.Your stay at Quironsalud Olympia begins with a detailed information-gathering process - medical history, complaints, family history of any diseases, etc. Based on this information, the doctor will prescribe an individual set of tests, examinations and consultations with specialists, which is tailored to each patient. A personal coordinator will plan consultations and tests to suit your schedule. Most patients find it most comfortable to have all the tests they need on the same day.
3.After receiving the results of the examinations, the attending physician will draw up an individualised plan, including recommendations for lifestyle, medical and sports care. Adherence to this plan will be the key to maintaining excellent health.
4.Once a healthy lifestyle plan has been drawn up, a comprehensive follow-up plan is put together for the patient to help them focus on specific areas and always strive for a balance between physical and mental well-being. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team including sub-specialised doctors, nutritionists, rehabilitation therapists, psychologists, etc., who will help you achieve your goals. Health monitoring includes regularly scheduled counselling sessions to supervise the impact of lifestyle changes on your health and modify your treatment plan if necessary.
To achieve healthy habits, each patient is prescribed an individual programme that allows them to achieve their goals in the short and medium term under the careful supervision of the specialists at Quironsalud Olympia. This not only allows you to correct the symptoms that are bothering you but also to learn to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Features of the Clinic
QUIRONSALUD OLYMPIA LIFESTYLE CENTRE
"Three fundamental components to achieving the best version of yourself: nutrition, leisure management and emotional wellbeing."
The Quironsalud Olympia Clinic's lifestyle centre provides a selection of personalised lifestyle changes to maximise their quality and duration, as well as comprehensive chronic disease management and disease prevention. The range of procedures that patients undergo includes comprehensive screening, consultations with specialists, and individually tailored clinical interventions.
The most popular service of the centre is comprehensive check-ups - sets of diagnostic procedures selected according to the patient's age, gender and individual predispositions to identify possible diseases and imbalances in the body. Check-ups are the most effective method of early diagnosis of serious diseases such as cancer. This allows them to be detected in their early stages - often before symptoms appear - and treated most effectively with minimal harm to the body.
Check-up packages can include various diagnostic procedures, which the doctor will select individually for each patient. Often these can be completed in one day at Quironsalud Olympia Hospital and the results, along with an interpretation and personalised recommendations, are available as soon as possible.
The Check-up Medicine Department is headed by Dr Miguel Fernandez Tapia-Ruano, who was formerly Head of the King of Spain's Household Medical Service.

The Lifestyle Medicine Centre of Quironsalud Olympia has a Longevity, Preventive and Holistic Medicine Department. It is primarily of interest to patients who are beginning to notice the first signs of ageing and are interested in prolonging their physical, emotional and mental health for as long as possible. The doctors help to identify and eliminate the individual factors that hurt the body and accelerate ageing. Much emphasis is placed on preventing diseases common to older age - cardiovascular disease and cancer - as well as preserving cognitive abilities.
Issues related to ageing can also be addressed through aesthetic medicine. All modern, effective and safe procedures are available at the Quironsalud Olympia Clinic to restore the face and body to its former firmness and youthfulness - both with cosmetic procedures and fillers, as well as plastic surgery (facelifts). For patients 45+, special packages of annual procedures are prepared to maintain youth and beauty.
The Department of Aesthetic Medicine can also help to correct any other appearance problems that cause patient dissatisfaction: implants, maxillofacial surgery, aesthetic dentistry, and intimate plastics. The main focus of the doctors is to achieve natural and aesthetically pleasing results while avoiding unnecessary discomfort for the patient associated with the surgery. A holistic approach is used in each intervention and, if necessary, doctors from other specialities are involved to be 100% sure that the treatment carried out will benefit the patient as a whole.
QUIRONSALUD OLYMPIA SPORTS MEDICINE CENTRE
Sports medicine is one of the main focuses of the QuironsaludOlympia Clinic. A large number of patients are successful athletes - for example, Rafa Nadal, a two-time Olympic tennis champion.
For each sport, the representatives of Quironsalud Olympia can offer a separate set of tests aimed at a precise examination of the body with all its strengths and weaknesses; as well as a personalised treatment and care plan, including training, diet, rest, etc.
Led by a specialist sports radiologist and resonance imaging expert with over 20 years of international experience working with elite and professional athletes, the Sports Imaging Department offers a consultation programme to individually review and explain the results of musculoskeletal imaging studies with the patient.
Personalised plans for athletes can be aimed at different goals: preparing for competition, preventing or rehabilitating injuries, creating an optimal training plan taking into account background illnesses, etc. In each case, a whole team of specialists is involved to help create the best possible plan.
Technologies available in the department include:
Integrated operating theatres (ability to perform imaging diagnostics during surgery),
A 300 m2 gym,
Alter G anti-gravity cycle track,
Swimming pool with lifting floor,
3D biomechanics system STT.
In addition to professional athletes, the clinic is open to patients of all levels of fitness who are interested in finding the best training plan for their health condition. For example, this may include the elderly, patients with cardiovascular or chronic diseases, people with orthopaedic anomalies or diseases, as well as those who have undergone injuries or surgeries and are in the rehabilitation phase. The modern equipment on which the physiotherapy sessions take place has been designed to minimise possible harm to vulnerable tissues, allowing safe and more intensive exercise of muscles and joints.
The Quironsalud Olympia Sports Medicine Centre also has an Injury Rehabilitation Unit. Intensive recovery programmes reduce the time it takes to return to a normal life/exercise routine. Experienced physiotherapists and rehabilitation therapists help to build skills that will help prevent future sports injuries.
In addition, the department works with patients after surgeries (e.g. joint endoprosthetics), strokes, accidental injuries, etc. There are specialised departments for the spine, cardiovascular system, etc. There are also courses for the active preparation of women for childbirth.
Among the modern methods of treating sports injuries available at Quironsalud Olympia Clinic is regenerative medicine.
MEDICAL CENTRE OF THE QUIRONSALUD OLYMPIA CLINIC
The Medical Clinic treats a wide range of conditions with a predominantly outpatient, minimally invasive approach. Surgery can often be performed on the same day that the diagnosis is made. The surgical programme is based on accurate diagnosis through pre-operative testing and post-operative follow-up to ensure maximum patient safety. After discharge from the hospital, the patient remains under remote monitoring by the nursing staff. A delegated healthcare worker contacts patients 2, 6, 12 and 24 hours after surgery to conduct a medical questionnaire and ensure that the intervention went without any complications.
If more complex treatment is required, the patient is referred to the most appropriate multidisciplinary centre in the Quironsalud network, of which there are more than 58.
There is also a Sleep Research Centre. Patients with various problems come here, the most common of which are insomnia, apnoea, circadian sleep cycle disorders, etc. Doctors also help to find the optimal rest regime for athletes or to adapt it to different professional requirements (e.g. pilots).
When consulting patients, great attention is paid to the patient's nutrition, because it can affect absolutely all organ systems of the patient and cause a wide range of diseases with a "domino effect". The Nutritionology Division is responsible for the development of nutritional plans for weight management, disease prevention, optimisation of physical activity and sports, and life expectancy management. This includes patients with specific needs, such as pregnant people, patients with diabetes and other chronic diseases, and cancer patients. Special attention is paid to sports nutrition programmes, which include precise measurements such as indirect calorimetry and anthropometric measurements to develop nutritional plans aimed at optimising body composition, increasing physical activity and sports performance. Each programme is personalised not only to the sports speciality but also to the individual characteristics of the athlete's body.
Cellular therapy available at Quironsalud Olympia Clinic, is also used in the treatment of patients with a wide range of injuries: wounds, ulcers (including diabetic ulcers), diabetic foot, and during post-operative recovery.
Hyperbaric chamber
The Oxybaric hyperbaric chamber is a high-tech device that creates a microclimate with a high concentration of oxygen. A patient placed in the capsule undergoes accelerated healing of wounds, especially burn wounds. The positive effect of the hyperbaric chamber on all tissues of the body is immediate: oxygen levels increase, which improves metabolism, regulates collagen activity and promotes the formation of new capillaries, and the activity of stem cells increases up to 800%. Some studies even indicate a positive effect of the hyperbaric chamber on telomere length, a major factor in "biological age".
The hyperbaric chamber at the Quironsalud Olympia Clinic is prescribed both for post-operative and post-traumatic patients, as well as for athletes during rehabilitation or preparation for competitions.
Cryo chamber
Cryotherapy using the Icelab chamber is performed to relieve inflammation, improve blood circulation and general healing of the body. The temperature in the capsule is capable of dropping to -110°C. The procedure is often used to prepare athletes for competitions or rehabilitation after intensive training.
Indications for its use include rheumatic pain, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, asthma, treatment of injuries, stress and physical exhaustion after training, etc.
Very good attention from the staff working at Olympia, both administrative and medical staff (in my case, Dr Ana Reimundo), 10 out of 10.
