New-generation linear accelerators are used here for remote radiotherapy. These machines are equipped with advanced planning systems that provide a 4D image of the tumour during breathing, allowing for precise irradiation of the neoplasm without damaging healthy tissue.
This system is mainly used to treat tumours of the lungs, neck, brain and internal organs. More than 1,000 adults and children undergo radiotherapy at Motol every year.
The linear accelerators at Motol University Hospital feature VMAT (Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy) technology. VMAT enhances the distribution of the radiation dose within the patient's body while minimising radiation exposure to surrounding tissues.
Due to more accurate delivery of radiation to the tumour site, it is possible to safely apply high doses of radiation in a single visit. This reduces the overall duration of radiotherapy. Diseases that previously required 12-15 sessions of radiation therapy can now be treated in just 3-5 sessions. At the same time, the duration of each session has been reduced by half.

Close cooperation with the Clinic of Paediatric Neurology allows leading Prague doctors to use the most modern diagnostic and navigation methods, one of which is awake craniotomy under local anaesthesia.
The procedure involves the patient being conscious during surgery for malignant brain tumours. It allows for continuous monitoring of brain function, as the neurosurgeon tests the areas before removing the tumour. Awake craniotomy minimises the risks of surgery and makes tumour removal more successful.
Vagus nerve stimulation is used to treat epilepsy in the paediatric department at Motol. The vagus nerve is the most important cranial nerve, and its stimulation suppresses the chaotic, abnormal electrical activity in the brain that occurs during an epileptic seizure.
Vagus nerve stimulation is often combined with drug therapy, in particular the use of new-generation antiepileptic drugs. The procedure is successful in 90% of cases.

In April 2018, the Motol Clinic opened a Robotic Surgery Centre. Such operations have been performed in the Czech Republic since 2005. There are nine robotic surgery centres in the Czech Republic, two of which are in Prague.
The Motol Robotic Surgery Centre is the newest and one of the most modern in terms of equipment and technology. The latest generation of equipment has been purchased for the centre, in particular the latest version of the Da Vinci Robot – Da Vinci SP.
The new system provides maximum access (up to 24 cm, with a 360° rotation angle) through a single small incision. This system is used to perform minimally invasive prostate cancer surgery – without large scars, pain, or the negative consequences of surgery in the form of various dysfunctions.
Prices for robotic surgery in the Czech Republic, especially at the new Motol Robotic Surgery Centre, remain quite affordable, significantly lower than in Germany and Israel.

The Children's Heart Centre at the Motol Clinic in the Czech Republic is one of the leading centres in Europe. Its main focus is the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired diseases of the cardiovascular system, heart rhythm disorders and heart failure.
Children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 come to the cardiac centre for treatment. In some cases, the centre assists adults who require highly specialised treatment for congenital heart defects.
