The Bone Marrow Center was founded in 2004 at the Department of Hematology of the Başkent University Hospital. This is one of the most modern and technically equipped bone marrow transplant centres in Turkey. Gamma Knife stops tumour growth in 90-95% of cases.
Since patients are exposed to low doses of radiation, they do not experience the side effects associated with conventional radiation therapy. It is possible to perform spot irradiation of several areas during one session, and if necessary, treatment sessions can be repeated every few weeks. The number of sessions with Gamma Knife is less than with conventional radiation therapy.
