About the doctor
He received his basic medical training at the Nagpur State Medical College and Hospital in India. He trained in laparoscopic and robotic surgery in Germany and Italy. He completed postgraduate training in transplantology in Rochester, New York. He completed a transplantology fellowship in Pittsburgh, USA. He graduated from the Translational and Practical Regenerative Medicine (TPRM) programme at the Nichi Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM), supported by the University of Toronto, Canada. He studied the specifics of abdominal organ transplantation at the Thomas E. Starzl Institute of Transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh.
He worked as a clinical research fellow in the Department of Transplantation at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester, USA. He worked as a consultant surgeon at the Medanta Institute of Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, Gurgaon. He subsequently held the post of consultant surgeon in liver transplantation and surgical gastroenterology at Sir Gang Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He subsequently worked at Apollo Clinics, Bombay Hospital, the Medical Research Centre in Mumbai and Gajiroli Hospital. He has over 10 years’ experience in liver transplantation (deceased donor, living donor and paediatric liver transplantation). He performed the first successful bowel transplant in India.
