In 1995, he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg. From 1995 to 2006, he was a senior consultant at one of Germany’s largest centres for the treatment of heart disease, the Center for Cardiology at the University of Leipzig.
Since 2005, Professor Hambrecht has been a member of the working group for the prevention of cardiovascular disease of the German Society for Cardiological Research. He is the author of numerous scientific papers on stem cell research as a treatment for heart disease and works on cardiovascular disease.
Since June 1, 2006, Rainer Hambrecht has headed the Center for Cardiology at the Linx der Weser Clinic.
