Prof. Karl-Heinz Schultheis

Chief Physician of the Department of General, Visceral, Thoracic and Endocrine Surgery, St. Augusta Clinics. He received his specialization in surgery in 1985. In 1990, he was awarded the Karl-Heinz-Bauer Prize for his research in the field of tumour surgery. The same year he was appointed Professor of Surgery and Trauma Surgery at the University of Giessen. In 1992, he received a grant from the German Society for Surgery to study hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, the Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the Memorial Cancer Center in New York, and the National Cancer Institute in Washington. He went on to study vascular, visceral and thoracic surgery. In 2005, he received a Minimally Invasive Surgery from the German Society for Visceral Surgery. Before joining St. Augusta Hospital, he served as Chief Physician in the Department of General, Visceral, Thoracic and Endocrine Surgery at the Florence Nightingale Kaiserswerther Diakoni Clinic.
