About the doctor

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Innsbruck in Austria and then practised in the Department of Histology and Embryology at the same university. Dr. Schuler was also a researcher at Rockefeller University in New York. He is currently head of the Department of Dermatology at the Erlangen University Hospital.

Membership in professional societies and awards:

  • Max Kade Foundation member (1983);
  • Corresponding Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (since 1998);
  • German Research Foundation. Project “Induction of Immune Tolerance by Dendritic Cells” (1997-2002);
  • Member of the German National Academy of Natural Sciences Leopoldina (since 2010).
