Professor, MD is a chief physician of the Urology Department at the University clinic of Freiburg. He studied medicine in the universities of Tübingen and Freiburg. He conducted research abroad at the University of California, San Francisco. During his time in the US he received valuable information on the structure and organization of the departments of the American University and was able to use this experience in implementing certain aspects of the work in Freiburg clinic.
In 1992 he was appointed adjunct professor. Under the leadership of Ulrich Vetteraurer, the Department of Urology became one of the leading European centers for kidney and prostate surgery. Under his guidance more than 4,000 operations are performed per year significant part of which is minimally invasive surgical interventions. Professor is also considered a recognized expert in the implantation of the artificial reproductive system.
