Dr Ninad Katdare trained in oncological surgery at the renowned Tata Memorial Hospital. During his three years of training, he independently performed over 300 operations for head and neck cancer, breast cancer and gastrointestinal cancer. Dr Katdare subsequently undertook further training in Europe. He completed a Master’s degree in Modern Oncology at the University of Ulm, Germany. This is one of the few courses in the world that covers research, clinical management and the integration of complementary, alternative and conventional medicines in the treatment of cancer patients. He then studied endoscopic and robotic surgery at the University of Strasbourg, France.
He undertook further training in gynaecological oncology at Le Centre Oscar Lambret, Lille, France. He is one of the few surgeons in India who specialises in fertility preservation for women undergoing cancer surgery. In addition, he trained in abdominal surgery at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy. There, he was trained in the surgical management of gastrointestinal stromal tumours, neuroendocrine tumour surgery, and the management of advanced colorectal cancer with liver metastases.
The renowned Indian oncological surgeon also studied the specific aspects of peritoneal cancer treatment at CHU Lyon, France. Dr Ninad Katdare is one of the few doctors in India who specialises not only in HIPEC surgery but also in other forms of treatment for peritoneal cancer, such as EPIC (early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy) and NIPS (neoadjuvant intraperitoneal surgery and chemotherapy). Ninad Katdare is one of the first surgeons in India to have undergone training in PIPAC: pressurised intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy.
