Head of the Department of Genetics and Metabolic Diseases at Hadassah Medical Centre. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1982. She subsequently specialised in paediatric genetics. Prof. Orly Elpeleg is a pioneer in the field of genetic research in children with rare diseases. She is an expert in exome sequencing for the study of gene mutations. Together with her colleagues, Prof. Orly Elpeleg has identified 15 new genes that cause severe genetic diseases in children.
