Florence Nightingale is Turkey’s leading medical network, founded in 1989. Since its establishment, the clinics have started gaining international recognition and popularity among foreign patients.
From the first steps of the treatment to the very discharge, the patients have access to unique medical and general services.
The network consists of four general hospitals and two medical centres. They provide quality services in all medical areas. Particularly popular among foreigners are cardiac surgery, transplantology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, neurology, oncology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, reproductive medicine, pediatric oncology and vascular surgery.
In 2010, Florence Nightingale opened the region’s first Smart Hospital equipped with robotic surgery technology. Telemedicine is also practiced here. The staff is fully trained to perform modern diagnostics and treatment.
Florence Nightingale was the first private clinic in Turkey to successfully perform liver and heart transplants, open fetal surgery and robotic heart surgery. More than 300 Da Vinci operations for urological diseases are performed annually.
Florence Nightingale is a pioneer in molecular genetics. These examinations are unique and help to choose the optimal treatment program for different diseases. They are conducted in specialized laboratories equipped with innovative technology.
With the support of Istanbul University of Science, they opened the first Green Hospital in the region. The medical center uses environment-friendly materials that don’t release toxic waste products, even in case of fire.
Medical staff
Florence Nightingale Clinics employs over 2,500 specialists. Doctors are licensed by the Medical Council, which enables them to practice in Turkey. Also, many are certified by the Medical Councils of the USA, Australia, and Europe. Before the employment, every potential doctor undergoes a qualification level check.
The certification process involves a formal review of each specialist’s qualifications and experience by the specialised committees. These reviews are repeated every 3 years.
Florence Nightingale nurses are recertified every five years. Those with special responsibilities (Nurses in the NICU) receive special training and have according certificates.

Features of the Clinic
All the hospitals at the Florence Nightingale Network provide the most comfortable accomodations for the inpatient care. The patients stay in spacy rooms with orthopedic beds, the most recommendable for people with health issues, especially with spine and locomotor system. All the necessary requirements like a bathroom, telephone or a nurse call button are available. Satellite TV provides entertainment during the stay, and any other arising meets can be met with room services.
Gayrettepe Florence Nightingale Hospital

Ataşehir Florence Nightingale Hospital

Şişli Florence Nightingale Hospital
The 35,000 m2 Florence Nightingale Şişli Hospital has 12 surgery units and 300 beds. It was opened in 1989. Initially, it only offered cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Today, their range of services has grown beyond recognition. They offer general surgery, orthopedic and spine surgery, neurosurgery and robotic surgery.
Their Interventional Radiology and Ear-Nose-Throat Departments are of high reputation on the medical community. The Transplantology Center performs heart, liver, kidney and bone marrow transplantations.

Kadıköy Florence Nightingale Hospital
The Kadıköy Florence Nightingale Medical Centre consists of six floors built on an area of 6,000 square metres. It provides services for the diagnosis and treatment of internal organ diseases, cardiology, gastroenterology, chest diseases, and endocrine system disorders. It also provides services to patients of all age groups in the departments of general surgery, reproductive medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery.
Kadıköy Florence Nightingale has a Check-up Healthy Life Service Centre, which provides comprehensive diagnostics of the body. Here, personalised examination programmes are created for each patient.
The Kadıköy Florence Nightingale Clinic provides international patients with services in all specialties. Barış Akin graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1995 and took part in a transplant fellowship programme at Ohio State University between 2001 and 2004. He specialises in kidney and pancreas transplantation, as well as advanced laparoscopic kidney transplantation procedures. The professor is certified by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He received the ‘Young Investigator Award’ in 2004 at the American Transplant Conference.
Barış Akin returned to Istanbul in 2004 and established one of the first kidney transplant programmes at Florence Nightingale Hospital. He performed the first laparoscopic donor nephrectomy in Turkey.
The professor has performed retroperitoneoscopic donor nephrectomies in over 400 cases without any serious complications. He has presented his surgical experience at international conferences in the USA and Europe. Barış Akin performed over 500 kidney transplant operations whilst training in Turkey, with a success rate of 95–97% in the first year.
