Stem cells are unique components of the human body, which can transform into different types of tissues and fight many diseases. Ageing is not a pathological condition. It is a natural biological process. However, age-related changes can rarely be called pleasant. Every year hundreds of new remedies, drugs and procedures appear in the world, allowing to delay or suspend the “withering” of appearance. Stem cell therapy can be such an innovative method of fighting the ageing process. Learn more about rejuvenating cell therapy in our article.

What does stem cell rejuvenation involve?
Stem cells are used for various medical purposes, including tissue repair and regenerative medicine. They have found use in aesthetic and plastic surgery as well as cosmetology. Stem cell injections have rejuvenating and regenerating effects.
Stem cell rejuvenation is an innovative method of combating the signs of ageing. It is suitable for women and men aged 45+. The procedure allows the patient to appear a few years younger, feel more alert and attractive.
Many stem cell-based products have yet to receive FDA approval for aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery.
However, current preclinical and clinical studies of stem cells for aesthetic purposes have shown promising results. More than 81% of patients are satisfied with the outcome of the treatment.
LaVív is the first and only personalized aesthetic cell therapy approved by the FDA to improve the appearance of moderate to severe nasolabial wrinkles in adults.
The procedure involves taking a tiny sample of tissue (biopsy) behind the patient’s ear. It is performed under local anaesthetic and takes no longer than 15-20 minutes. The resulting material (called fibroblasts) is cultured in the laboratory for several months and then injected into the patient.

How are stem cells used for rejuvenation?
For cellular therapy, stem cells are usually taken from the patient’s adipose tissue, bone marrow, skin and blood. Embryonic stem cells can also be used less frequently for rejuvenation purposes.
They are obtained from the umbilical cord blood or the inner cell mass of the blastocyst at a very early stage of embryonic development. This biomaterial is stored in a special cryobank. If necessary, it is thawed and prepared for use.
The patient’s cells are processed in a laboratory for 4-6 weeks, or sometimes longer, and then injected into the target areas (face, neck, hands). It is also possible to deliver the stem cells into the body by intravenous injection. In the latter case, the procedure is similar to a blood transfusion.
The duration of the rejuvenating cell therapy and the number of injected cells depends on the severity of the patient’s age-related changes. LaVív therapy is performed in just 3 sessions, 40-45 days apart or within a week. The skin is anaesthetised with local anaesthetic creams before the injection. The effect appears in the second month after the treatment and can last up to five years.
Does cell therapy have any side effects?
As this method of rejuvenation in most cases involves the use of a person’s stem cells, it has no serious side effects. The procedure is easily tolerated and does not require any special rehabilitation measures. The patient can go home the same day and go about their daily activities. Redness and slight swelling may occur at the injection sites. In extremely rare cases, patients may experience bleeding, pain, papules, irritation, dermatitis and itching.
To minimise any risk of complications, stem cell therapy should be carried out in specialised centres or at large clinics with major cell therapy departments approved to carry out the procedure. Please contact our coordinators to arrange treatment abroad.
Results of stem cell rejuvenation
Stem cells are ideal for rejuvenating your body. Not only do they help to slow down age-related changes in appearance, but they also provide a host of other positive effects:
increase immunity,
improve the ability to be physically active,
reduce muscle and joint pain,
promote better tissue regeneration,
improve your general well-being.
Stem cells administered to the patient continue to affect the target areas for six months or even longer. However, this does not mean that you have to wait a year for the treatment to take effect. Most patients report improvement within 3-6 weeks of completing the rejuvenation therapy. If desired, the treatment can be repeated after a year.

Summary
Stem cell rejuvenation is an innovative method of combating the ageing process. This therapy can alleviate the appearance of wrinkles, remove loose skin, and generally rejuvenate the face and body.
Presently, the only approved method of stem cell rejuvenation is LaViv therapy. It is indicated for adult patients with wrinkles in the nasolabial folds. The injections of this drug can improve the appearance. They can also be used in the treatment of purulent chronic ulcers, indirect alopecia, burns, scars and acne defects. The drug is also effective in bleaching blemishes and dark spots on the skin.
For LaViv treatment, the patient’s cellular material is used, which is taken behind the ear. This is cultured in the lab and then injected into the targeted areas of the face. The effect can last for six months or even longer. The treatment can be repeated if necessary.
Many other methods of rejuvenating cell therapy are in pre-clinical and clinical trials. They use stem cells from the patient’s fat, bone marrow, or blood. The use of embryonic cells is also possible. These drugs may be injected or injected intravenously.
