About the doctor
Head of the Department of Surgery and Transplantation at Medipol University Hospital. He graduated from the Medical University of Hasitpepe, majoring in general surgery. In 1998, Hamdi Karakayli was promoted to Professor of Medicine at the same university. In 2002, he was appointed as the advisor to the Turkish Ministry of Health on liver and kidney transplantation. From 1994 to 2011 he worked at the Department for General Surgery of Baskent University. During 17 years of work at Baskent University, Hamdi Karakayali conducted over 1,500 kidney transplants and 500 liver transplants. In 2011, Professor headed the Department for General Surgery of the Transplant Unit at Gaziosmanpasa Hospital (Istanbul), where he has performed more than 320 kidney transplants with 99% of success for several years. During his professional career, Prof. Hamdi Karakayali wrote and published over 260 scientific papers in international medical journals.
