Graduated from the Gulhane Military Medical Academy in 1984. From 1995 to 2002 he worked as an Associate Professor and later Professor at the GATA Hajdarpaşa Teaching Hospital. In 1998-1998 he worked at the Bone Marrow Transplant Center of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in the USA. He was Head of Hematology Clinic from 2002 to 2009.
He is a member of the Turkish Hematological Association.
Author of more than 11 publications in prestigious international medical journals.
