Clinic Review

The Wooridul Clinic is one of Asia’s leading institutions in the field of spine, upper and lower extremity joint treatment.
Each year the centre performs about 20,000 spine surgeries and more than 80,000 therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. In more than 33 years of existence, the Wooridul brand has grown to 13 medical centres located both inside and outside of Korea.
Today, the Wooridul clinics are a large network of hospitals that have become a recognized world leader in the treatment of spine and joint diseases. The first medical centre was opened in Busan in 1982.
The clinic meets modern standards of world medicine and has been recognized by the Medical Tourism Association as “The Best International Hospital in the World”. In addition, the Wooridul Clinic is accredited by the JCI International Commission, the gold standard for medical services. The network’s largest medical centres are the Wooridul Seoul Clinic (2 medical centres) and the Wooridul Busan Medical Centre (2 medical centres).

Features of the Clinic
The centre pays great attention to modern minimally invasive and bloodless techniques of spinal and joint surgery, some of which were developed by the centre’s specialists. All clinics are equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology. They have:
- A high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging machine;
- State-of-the-art computed tomography machine;
- Intraoperative C-arm and A-arm X-ray systems used in 3D surgical interventions;
- An advanced navigation computer system;
- CyberKnife 4th generation unit.

The doctors of the clinic are involved in multiple scientific developments in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology, the results of which are actively applied in practice. For example, the hospital actively uses biocompatible joint endoprostheses.
The technology of complex double-chain surgery has been developed and is used to repair ligaments (the intervention is of increased complexity and is considered high-tech).
Due to the continuous increase in scientific capacity and the quality of medical services, the first specialised centre for spine cancer treatment in the Asian region was opened at the Wooridul Clinic. Foreign patients have been treated at the network’s clinics since 2006 when international departments were established at the hospitals to coordinate the stay of foreign patients. Admission is maximally simplified and prepared, and the staff of the International Department do everything necessary to make the patient’s stay as comfortable as possible.
Vertebrologists at the clinic conduct:
- Endoscopic, laser and microsurgical spine interventions (using laparoscopic and thoracoscopic techniques);
- Reconstructive interventions on the ligamentous apparatus;
- Correction of spinal deformities;
- Vertebroplasty;
- Kyphoplasty;
- Vertebral stabilisation;
- Correction of intervertebral hernia;
- Intervertebral disc protrusion treatment;
- Surgical treatment of scoliosis;
- Surgical interventions for neoplasms of the spine.
The clinic offers surgical and non-surgical treatment of shoulder, hip and ankle joint pathologies, namely endoprosthetics, cruciate ligament surgery, partial joint replacement, osteotomies, cartilage cell transplants, diagnostic and therapeutic arthroscopy and reconstructive interventions. Rehabilitation and physiotherapeutic methods are also available here.
The clinic pays great attention to surgical interventions using navigation systems, which allow doctors to increase the accuracy of surgery, reduce the number of postoperative complications, minimise the trauma of surgery and accelerate the recovery period.
All interventions in the clinic are performed using the specialised NIM SpineTM neuronavigation system, which identifies and prevents nerve damage. Thanks to the latest navigation technology, the success rate of surgery has increased to 98%. This type of surgery has clear advantages even over arthroscopic interventions, allowing the surgeon to achieve a more precise and accurate angle during the procedure.
Wooridul Hospital is considered to be a clinic for innovative orthopaedic and orthopaedic technology.
