The University Clinic of Krakow is the only Polish medical institution that treats rare endocrine diseases: acromegaly, panhypopituitarism, ACTH-dependent and ACTH-independent Cushing syndrome, late adrenal hyperplasia. Only here the malignant tumors of the endocrine system are diagnosed and treated. Annually, more than 2,000 inpatients and 12,000 outpatients from around the world seek help from the hospital's endocrine department.

The surgical department in the University Clinic of Krakow was named the most high-tech and safe surgical department in Poland for the fourth time in a row according to the authoritative edition of Newsweek.

The editorial staff makes up the rating of surgical departments, based on the % of successful operations, the level of patient satisfaction, the quality of medical equipment and feedback from competitors.

In 2008, specialists in the department of neonatology rescued infants who were born on the 25th week of pregnancy with a weight of 570-800 g. The Department of Women's Oncological Diseases became the first among Polish hospitals, which was accredited by the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ESGO) and was recognized by the European Gynecologic Oncology Center.

The availability of the ESGO certificate guarantees patients receiving medical care that meets all international standards. This quality mark also allows the department's specialists to participate in international research in the field of gynecological oncology.

This means that the doctors at the University Clinic of Krakow have access to innovative drugs, constantly improving the effectiveness and safety of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and improving the methods of surgical treatment of breast cancer and female reproductive system.

The department of gynecological oncology diagnose and treat all types of female oncological diseases. Personalized treatment is prescribed, taking into account the stage of cancer and individual characteristics of the body.

Most often chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and radiotherapy is prescribed to patients. Diagnostic and treatment procedures are conducted here with the help of modern equipment and advanced drugs that posses the maximum effectiveness in fighting cancer cells and are the safest for healthy organs and tissues of the patient. TREATMENT OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES IN THE UNIVERSITY CLINIC OF KRAKOW

The specialists of the department annually help more than 2500 patients from all over the world to get rid of diseases of the cardiovascular system. An electrophysiology laboratory with an advanced specialized cardiological system is functioning here that allows doctors of Krakow to conduct the most accurate examinations of the heart.

The laboratory of the clinic, scheduled examinations of patients with an established pacemaker and procedures for radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFA) are carried out. These procedures are aimed at eliminating arrhythmia by introducing a thin flexible catheter through a blood vessel to the site of cardiac arrhythmia. A radio-frequency pulse is triggered on the catheter, and it destroys the pathological rhythm.

Annually in the department of cardiovascular diseases of the clinic of Krakow, doctors conduct about 200 procedures of radiofrequency ablation, installation of 250 pacemakers and receive more than 3000 outpatients.

The Center of Hematology became the first medical center in Poland specializing in the treatment of malignant and benign blood diseases. The department was opened in 1950, headed by Associate Professor Julian Alexandrovich.

In 1958, doctors for the first time in Poland carried out a successful bone marrow transplantation between twin sisters in the Hematology Center of the Krakow Clinic.

The department is located on 4 stories, one of which completely occupies the advanced medical equipment for diagnostic and medical procedures.

Every year, about 6,000 inpatients and 20,000 outpatients are helped at the Center to get rid of blood diseases forever.

The Bone Marrow Transplant Center successfully functions, in which more than 60 bone marrow transplants are performed from related and unrelated donors each year on the basis of the hematology department of the Krakow Clinic.
