Bone marrow transplant (BMT) or peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplant is the administration of prefabricated bone marrow or peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cells to a patient with haematological, oncological or autoimmune disease.

Before a bone marrow transplant, doctors must conduct a comprehensive examination of the patient to ensure that their physical condition will allow them to undergo the procedure.
During autologous transplantation, the patient’s harvested bone marrow is cleared of abnormal cells, frozen and stored at -80 to -196 °C until transplantation.
During allogeneic transplantation, T-lymphocytes are first extracted from the donor bone marrow to reduce the risk of rejection after transplantation. Bone marrow is then injected into the patient intravenously.
For the first couple of weeks after transplantation, the bone marrow is susceptible to any infection and is prone to bleeding. To prevent infections, the patient is given a series of antibiotics and blood transfusions.
It is worth noting that the risk of a patient becoming infected after a bone marrow transplant in the Kolan hospitals is minimal, as the BMT Center is equipped with an advanced air purification system – HEPA filters. They eliminate the harmful particles and minimize the risk of an infection after a bone marrow transplant.

The selected embryos are transferred into the uterine cavity using the thinnest catheter. The remaining embryos can be cryopreserved to be used for IVF in the future.
For successful implantation of embryos and healthy pregnancy, the women are also prescribed individually selected hormonal therapy.
