Features of the Clinic
Modern diagnostic methods in Na Homolce Clinic
The Na Homolce hospital provides comprehensive diagnostics with modern equipment.
The doctors at Na Homolce pay special attention to the medical examinations because the results are the basis for further treatment.
In addition to standard diagnostics, CT, PET, MRI, endoscopy, and sonography are available here. Doctors also conduct haematological, molecular, genetic, and immunological tests.
In 2018, the Na Homolce Clinic installed a combination device that allows CT angiography. This unit is currently the only one in the Czech Republic, and its advantage is the possibility to obtain more detailed information about the connection of vascular structures to the surrounding tissues.
Neurosurgery at Na Homolce Clinic
The Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical Center Na Homolce has the status of a comprehensive cerebrovascular centre.
It is the only hospital in the Czech Republic to have the Leksell Gamma Knife at its disposal. And in 2019, the clinic purchased the new Leksell Gamma Knife Icon, which is the most precise radiosurgical device on the market.
With this model, doctors can perform micro-radiosurgery, reduce the radiation dose to an even greater degree to healthy tissue, and choose the method of patient fixation (framed, frameless). The accuracy of the new gamma knife reaches 0.15 mm in any mode of fixation, which is 6 times higher than the standards of similar systems. Such characteristics make the treatment process safer and more effective.
The priority areas of the neurosurgeons are tumour surgery, cerebral vascular surgery, spinal surgery and functional neurosurgery. Every year, more than 2,000 surgeries are performed here. 800 of the surgical interventions performed at the Na Homolce Clinic are done with the Gamma Knife.
Deep brain stimulation is an option for patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, tremor and muscular dystonia. Doctors at the Neurosurgery Center perform safe interventions that eliminate crises during and after surgery. Thanks to intraoperative monitoring systems, specialists can accurately assess the situation and change their plan of action according to current data.
