At the Rechts der Isar Clinic, patients can undergo treatment for spinal muscular atrophy using a new gene therapy (SMA). This medicine is only available in a few clinics in Europe. The drug is capable of restoring RNA, i.e. a copy of DNA from the cell nucleus. The main difficulties arise when administering the drug. The drug can only be injected using a computer tomograph, which creates a real-time image of the spine. The Rechts der Isar Neurosurgical Centre is equipped with such an operating theatre.

Treatment of Cancer and Blood Diseases at Rechts der Isar

Cancer treatment involves several doctors from different specialties. An interdisciplinary approach ensures the best treatment outcomes and minimises the risk of incorrect decisions.

The oncology units and multidisciplinary centers of Rechts der Isar are considered the top cancer treatment places in Germany and Europe. Clinic has certificates from the German Cancer Society and the German non-profit organization for the fight against cancer. During an year, over 16,000 cancer patients are treated in the hospital. The clinic conducts accurate diagnosis and therapy of cancer of the brain, spine, skin, bones, gastrointestinal tract, breast, chest organs and other internal organs.
