Features of the Clinic

Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital Cancer Centre

In 2011, the updated Soon Chun Hyang Oncology Center was opened. The center closely cooperates with the Pulmonary Genetic Center and the Center for Molecular Biology, the departments jointly participate in the development of new cancer therapies. In the reviews of the Soon Chun Hyang Clinic, many patients focused on advanced treatment methods used in the hospital. It is the continuous improvement of technology that made Soon Chun Hyang Hospital one of the leading medical institutions in Korea. Thanks to this approach, stem cells treatment began in adults for the treatment of oncological diseases here. On the basis of the department there are conducted tests of simultaneous use of radiation and chemotherapy.

Hospital has advanced medical equipment for the treatment of cancer:

  • CyberKnife G4 (the latest generation): The latest technology of radiosurgical treatment of cancer. The system has a built-in function for tracking the tumor in real time, taking into account the vastness of the lesion area and fluctuations caused by respiration. CyberKnife technology in Soon Chun Hyang provides accurate, bloodless and painless surgery to remove tumors in hard-to-reach areas. The accuracy of the 4th generation Cyber Knife is up to 0.4 mm, which virtually excludes the effect of radiation on healthy cells.

  • Novalis Tx: The latest radiosurgical system for bloodless operations. Used to treat neurological and cerebrovascular pathologies, including cancer of the spinal cord and brain.
  • Elekta Infiniti: The most modern type of linear accelerator. High-precision and high-speed system with built-in rotational radiation function (VMAT). Thanks to VMAT, the duration of exposure is 2 times shorter than with other linear accelerators. With the help of Elekta Infiniti, it is possible to treat large number of affected areas with high dose of radiation, while maintaining gentle conditions for healthy tissue. The error of the device is less than 1 mm, because the effect on intact cells is minimal.
  • Tomotherapy: Innovative installation for layer-by-layer irradiation and ionization of tumors. One-of-a-kind system for the simultaneous treatment of multiple foci. This device allows to adjust the degree of exposure depending on the level of sensitivity and resistance of tumors.
