To correct the cone-shaped form of the cornea (keratoconus), crosslinking is actively used here making it possible to change the collagen structure of the corneal fibers due to the influence of various physical and chemical factors on them and to stop the progression of the disease.
In addition to crosslinking, a good result is given by procedures with the introduction of riboflavin and ultraviolet irradiation followed by the imposition of a special lens. Here, the most complicated transplants of the donor and artificial cornea are used.
