The glaucoma diagnosis and treatment centre is recognised as one of the most modern centres in Gyeonggi Province. The hospital’s technological facilities enable ophthalmologists to identify the causes and extent of glaucoma within 24 hours. Three leading ophthalmologists in the region specialising in glaucoma treatment are available to patients.

The range of interventions used by specialists at the Hangil Eye Clinic to treat glaucoma includes peripheral laser iridotomy, iridoplasty, selective laser trabeculoplasty, glaucoma valve implantation, etc. Combined surgical interventions for glaucoma and concomitant cataract are also used. The centre’s specialists have achieved high results in the treatment of glaucoma. Intraocular pressure can be stabilized in more than 70% of patients. A cataract is one of the most common ophthalmological diseases, so the clinic pays great attention to the timely diagnosis and treatment of this pathology.

The Hangil Cataract Centre ranks second among all medical centres in Korea in terms of the number of operations for the disease. About 5,500 cataract patients are operated on here each year. The clinic uses quality IOLs (intraocular lenses or artificial lenses) made in Korea, Japan, USA and Malaysia. The lenses have many enhancements, including filters to protect the retina from ultraviolet radiation. Cataract lens replacement is performed in Hangil Eye Centre with the use of local anaesthetic and takes not more than 30 minutes. Drip anaesthesia provides an opportunity to reduce the strain on the cardiovascular system.

In addition to cataracts, specialists at the centre treat dry eye syndrome, amblyopia and conjunctivitis. Patients with myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism are fitted with glasses or contact lenses as conservative treatment.
