Features of the Clinic
Center for Robotic Surgery Vysočina
In the Center for Robotic Surgery of St. Zdislav Hospital Vysočina wide range of minimally invasive operations using the Da Vinci Robot System is conducted. From 2007 till date, the clinic performs over 450 surgeries yearly, and the number is constantly increasing.
The center of robotic surgery Vysochina is considered one of the largest centers of Europe in this field. For carrying out the robotic surgical intervention, patients come here not only from the whole Czech Republic, but also from other countries including Germany, since the prices here are much lower than the average European prices.
In the Center for Robotic Surgery of Vysočina daVinci system of the manufacturer IntuitiveSurgical is used. Today it is the most modern method of surgery. The Da Vinci system is managed by an experienced surgeon who uses the Robot Console as their working tools, determines their movement and conducts the operation.
Advantages of robotic surgery in the Vysočina Center:
minimal blood loss;
small incisions and consequently small scars;
no long-term hospitalization;
shorter duration of operation;
preservation of the male sexual function.
What can be done with the help of the Da Vinci Robot:
radical prostatectomy;
sleeve resection of the stomach;
partial resection of the kidney;
pyeloplasty;
removal of the adrenal gland;
reconstruction of the ureter after injury.
Radical prostatectomy in the hospital of St. Zdislav
Annually, the clinic performs more than 250 robotic operations for the radical removal of the prostate gland. This is the highest figure in the Czech Republic.
Benefits of robotic prostatectomy:
the risk of urinary incontinence, incontinence of the sphincter, inflammatory complications is reduced several times;
in 80% of cases the male sexual function is fully preserved;
an extract from the hospital on the 4th day;
the ability to independently emit urine and control the sphincter for 8-10 days.
Bariatric surgery in the St. Zdislava Hospital
Bariatric surgery for narrowing the stomach is indicated for patients with a body mass index of 40 as well as a body mass index of 35 with concomitant diseases: severe diabetes, hypertension, lipid metabolism disorders and cardiovascular diseases. After surgical narrowing of the stomach, the body mass index decreases, which improves the condition of patients with diabetes, reduces the dose of drugs with hypertension, and in general, improves the quality of life. The clinic uses a comprehensive approach, which means that a whole team of doctors works with the patient: experts in the field of obesity treatment, surgeons, physicians, psychologists, diabetologists and gastroenterologists.
Surgical gastroectomy (Gastric Sleeve surgery) is reducing its volume, by eliminating the curvature of the stomach because of which its shape changes from bag-shaped to tubular. The volume of the stomach after the operation is 80 to 180 ml.

In addition to reducing the volume, the action of the "hunger hormone" sharply decreases. Through this procedure, the patient consumes significantly less food and with time a person can lose weight without a strong sense of hunger. The duration of the operation is small - less than an hour. The patient is in the hospital for the next 4-5 days. Around 2-3 weeks are needed for full recovery.
During the year 2016, more than 50 robotic operations for narrowing the stomach were performed at St. Zdislav's clinic. The weight range of patients who underwent surgery was approximately 150-200 kg. Thanks to the surgical procedure, patients managed to get rid of 30-50 kg of excess weight. Patients from Germany and Austria, Spain, USA, Ukraine and Russia are traveling to the St. Zdislava hospital for a bariatric surgery to narrow the stomach.
